NEW DELHI: The team’s management came under fire from Ramiz Raja, the previous head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following their 2-0 defeat in the Twenty20 International series against England, which happened just before the T20 World Cup. With more than four overs left in the 4th Twenty20 International at Kennington Oval, England successfully chased down a target of 158 after dominating Pakistan in every facet of the game.
While defending their objective, Pakistan’s performance was hampered by the lack of magic from their pace bowlers and the weakness in their middle order. Ramiz voiced his concerns regarding Pakistan’s white-ball setup’s testing. He chastised the managers once more for the consequences of their experimentation decision.

The 21-year-old scored his top score of 32 in the series and amassed 52 runs at an average of 14.25 over the course of the four games against the Blackcaps. Babar and Rizwan were the cornerstones of the Pakistani opening pair prior to Ayub’s participation, making them one of the most potent opening duos in Twenty20 Internationals. During the most recent Men’s T20I World Cup in 2022, they notably shared a record-breaking 105-run stand, which elevated their partnership to new heights.

This was their third century partnership in the competition, demonstrating their outstanding batting ability and camaraderie. Pakistan is in Group A going into the competition, with important opponents like India, its arch-rival, Canada, the United States, and Ireland. Their adventure begins on Thursday at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas with a game against co-hosts USA.
