English all-rounder Moeen Ali has retired from all formats of international cricket. The 37-year-old all-rounder has taken this decision after not getting a chance in the English team for the upcoming white ball series against Australia.
Moeen said in an interview to the Daily Mail, ‘I am 37 years old and I was not selected for the series against Australia this month. ‘I have played a lot of cricket for England. Now the time has come for the next generation, which I was told about. I felt this was the right time. I have done my job.’
Moeen played his last international match in the T20 World Cup. The English team had to face defeat in this semi-final match played against India in Guyana.
