Ravichandran Ashwin eagerly awaits to take the field for RR in the Qualifier 2 match against SRH at the M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on May 24, Friday. It will be a homecoming for Ashwin, who has played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu and was also associated with CSK from 2009-15. Ashwin played an instrumental role in RR making it to the Qualifier 2 by defeating RCB in the eliminator match on May 22, Wednesday. He was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell of 4 overs, where he picked 2 crucial wickets of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell and gave away just 19 runs.

RR released a special video featuring Ashwin, where he talked about his return to his home ground in Chepauk. Ashwin looked confident as he reflected on his past records and was hopeful of getting good support from the local crowd.

“Chennai is a very special place. For anybody, their home is a special place. And that’s one place where I have always done very well. Also, I had a few interesting batting stints also when I played in Chennai the last time. So yeah, I am looking forward to it, there is nothing like playing in front of that crowd. And I am sure we will get Halla Bol and Nalla Bol support. So, it’s going to be a very interesting game. Can we bring our A-game? Can we be tactically superior to them? Those are the questions we need to answer,” Ashwin said in the video
