Former India and CSK cricketer Ambati Rayudu took a dig at RCB’s aggressive celebrations against CSK after their side crashed out of Indian Premier League 2024 following a loss against RR in the Eliminator game. The Faf du Plessis-led side suffered a four-wicket loss against RR on Wednesday, May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and got knocked out of the tournament.

Following RCB’s loss, Rayudu took a dig at their aggressive celebrations after beating CSK in their last league fixture in Bengaluru and said that only that can’t help them win IPL trophies. Notably, the Bengaluru-based franchise is yet to win a single IPL trophy despite playing all 17 seasons so far and have finished as runner-ups thrice.

“If you talk about RCB today, it shows that only passion and aggressive celebrations don’t win you trophies. You need to plan. You didn’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger. Don’t think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again,” Rayudu said on Star Sports.

Notably, RCB were heavily criticised on social media following their win over CSK which helped them qualify to the playoffs. The Bengaluru-based franchise faced the ire of fans for their wild celebrations on the field and reportedly ignoring CSK legend MS Dhoni who was supposedly playing the last match of his professional career. Not just the players, but RCB fans were also admonished for their behaviour towards the CSK fans after the game outside the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, further speaking ahead, Rayudu highlighted Bengaluru’s lack of faith in the Indian talent and mentioned that no other Indian player apart from Kohli has scored over 1000 runs for the franchise.

“They need to show more faith in Indians, especially in Indian talent. I don’t think in the past 16 years any Indian batter apart from Virat Kohli has scored more than 1000 runs, and Virat is at 8000. That shows that you don’t have any confidence in Indian talent,” he added.

RCB started the season with just one win in their first eight games and went on to win their last six matches to make a miraculous entry into the playoffs. However, their campaign was cut short by RR who ended their four-match losing streak and found some form heading into the playoffs.

The three-time runner-ups will now look to rebuild their squad in the mega auction ahead of the next season and finally end their 16-year-long trophy drought.
