- NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals cricketer Shimron Hetmyer has been fined 10 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Qualifier 2 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday night.
- “Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” stated an IPL release on Saturday.
- In the match, Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 175/9, thanks to a blistering half-century from Heinrich Klaasen.
- In their reply, Rajasthan struggled against the spin duo of Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma, who played a crucial role in restricting the Royals’ scoring rate. The pacers complemented the spinners’ efforts, keeping Rajasthan’s batters in check.
- Rajasthan ultimately fell short, managing only 139/7 and suffering a 36-run defeat.
- With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad have advanced to the final of the ongoing edition, where they will face Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on Sunday.
